These Simplicity 4794 pajama bottoms took me several shaky hours to complete, even though they consist of nothing more than 3 seams and a couple of hems. And I accidentally turned the hem to the wrong side of the fabric and didn’t realize it until I was done because it was the first blind hem I ever sewed on a machine. And the pattern doesn’t match up.
I made my first buttonhole in these pants, because I thought they needed some embellishment. If you ever see me in these pajama bottoms and come close to the small of my back, you should back way, way off – but look first and you may see my buttonhole. It is approximately 4 1/2 inches long, on one side. Trendy, especially in the sparkly green embroidery thread I selected (due to Christmas). Yes, that’s right, I said buttonhole.
All of this took place about a year and a half after I quit drinking, and I don’t do drugs. No, I don’t require any kind of chemical substance to spark my own particular brand of creativity, as I discovered on the evening
that these sprang to life in my hands.
I made them, and they are mine, and I have worn them 3 times. In case you were wondering, Snuggle Flannel fabric from Joann’s can make any first pair of pants tolerable, ask any baby. At about $3/y this time of year, I highly recommend it.
